Suntory Australia unveils ready-to-serve tequila cocktail

DBR Staff Writer Published 18 January 2012

Suntory Australia, a distributor and marketer of premium, global spirits and liqueurs, has launched its new ready-to-serve tequila cocktail, the Sierra Margarita, into the ready-to-serve arena.

Sierra Margarita was mixed according to the original cocktail recipe using Sierra Silver tequila, agave syrup and limes. It can be poured over ice for an instant margarita. It carries an ABV of 10%.

The tequila brand is owned by Hamburg-based Borco Brands Import. Borco was considerably pleased with Destilerías Sierra Unidas to get this first margarita cocktail perfected and certified by the CRT.

Borco Brands director Tina Ingwersen-Matthiesen said the company wanted the perfect ready-to-serve cocktail, which tastes like a fresh margarita remixed and with the full flavor of the traditional Mexican drink.

Sierra Destilerías Unidas produced the Sierra Margarita Ready to Serve using ingredients from exclusive Tequilana Weber Azul. The juices from the 40 to 60kg pina were pressed and then double distilled in copper pot stills.

The distilled juice was then combined with agave syrup and lime. The tequila is available in a 700ml x six unit case at a suggested retail price of $24.99.
